Problem With A McAfee Error On Start Up I hope someone can help with this issue it's driving me nuts. A family members Laptop (Toshiba Satellite - Running Vista)
has a problem on startup with what looks like a bad Uninstall.
When started & reaching desktop after logging on they get a Error pop up saying Mcfee Security Center (The Standard RED CIRCLE WITH WHITE X) & the wording - Application Resources could not be loaded successfully. Please Rienstall McAFee Security Center.
The McFee Logo is shown on the taskbar when this message is open also.
To say it's causing an annoyance would be an understatement. I have used several programs tring to find a Start Up thread, but can find no link to McAFee unless it's hidden.
There are remnants of the program in C/program files/McAfee. I have tried to delete these but cannot.
There is also a link (Icon) in the welcome center window on start up offering 30 days free McAfee protection, could this be causing an issue. After shutting down the error pop up, the computer does not always load The Welcome Centre either (which the family member is annoyed about).
They said there was a problem when they tried to uninstalled it (it froze midway by the sound of it, something caused a problem when doing it, may have been a power dip).
If there is anyway I can stop this pop up at start up I would be most gratefull. :frown:

Multiple "things" going wrong on laptop Seems my last thread about my mates computer has made my laptop go ape on me. I had a Windows Update annoyance and restarted where i was greeted with a lovely BSOD. Restarts, same again, disable the restart and have a look at the problem and it turns out to be driver issues. Not a problem, desktop starts up at which point i turn off my laptop and unplug it (Battery is left out to prolong its 1h 12m life) i find a Vista repair guide in the MSKB and there is a disk which claims to fix this problem. I turn my laptop on and it goes off. No warning and it was instant. I saw the power light come on and before you could blink it went off. At this point i though "great" tried all sorts of thing and have resorted to pulling out the HDD and trying it in another PC and when i plug it into any other machine it wont boot. Wont even start. So my HDD is fried. What i want to know is:
A) There is vital information on that HDD, can it be recovered?
B) Are there any checks I can do so my new HDD doesnt get fried too?
C) Has anyone else had a recent problem with the BSOD and Windows Update?

Folding @ Home Does anyone use Folding@Home?
*"What is protein folding and how is folding linked to disease?*
Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out these important functions, they assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, in many ways remains a mystery.
Moreover, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious consequences, including many well known diseases (http://folding.stanford.edu/English/FAQ-Diseases), such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, Parkinson's disease, and many Cancers and cancer-related syndromes.
*You can help by simply running a piece of software.*
Folding@home is a distributed computing project -- people from throughout the world download (http://folding.stanford.edu/English/Download) and run software to band together to make one of the largest supercomputers in the world. Every computer takes the project closer to our goals. Folding@home uses novel computational methods coupled to distributed computing, to simulate problems millions of times more challenging than previously achieved."

I was wondering if we all at Computer Juice could form a team like many others on other forums have:biggrin:.

No Signal I came back from holiday the other day and started up GT Legends. When i started a session and entered the garage, my screen went blank and showed a no signal message like when the monitor isnt plugged into the PC. I think it is only when 3D graphics are displayed because it is fine in the menus.
I had downloaded the latest drivers a few days ago so i dont think it is that. It's just bothering me because i cant play it.
